Sochi 2014 Olympic Games mascot prank

Nearly half a year ago the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee launched a public mascot contest. Since then there have been around ten tsd. entries and the frantic prank, I’m going to tell you about, was in that number.

Believe it or not, Peter the Bear better known as the ill-famed Pedobear, an Internet meme that became a mascot for online pedophiles, specifically targeting innocent prepubescent girls, has topped the official online vote chart for a few weeks! — Geezus!

One of the national news channels announced Peter the Bear a successor of Misha, the 1980 Olympic mascot.

I’m not sure why Peter the Bear was eventually turned down, either because of copyright or after a well-wisher had put the Sochi mascot design ideas committee wise of the point via a Pedobear vids & pics medley. Otherwise we’d be forced to proclaim “Too old!” the 2014 Olympic slogan.

Such unheard-of flub can only come true in a country where old farts, behindhand with the world, do unfit jobs.
